Weight Loss, Wellness And Eating Disorders
For The Next 12 Days, I am giving You A Quick Tips On Eating Disorders and How It Can Hurt Your Weight, Wellness and Health.
What Is Binge Eating Disorder?
First, let me tell you what it isn’t. Binge eating is not the same as casually overindulging. People that eat too much once in a while tend to correct their eating pattern over time. Everyone has sat at Thanksgiving dinner and ‘gotten full’. People with an eating disorder tend to be driven by emotion that compels them to do it regularly. They establish a pattern. Sometimes over a 3 month period or more.
This problem affects men and women.
Effective weight loss isn’t just losing weight. It’s understanding how the person became overweight, recognizing the pattern, correcting it and preventing it.
So how does this affect weight?
People who struggle with Binge eating disorder typically struggle with their weight. About two-thirds of the people are classified as obese and as many as 30% who sought weight loss, suffered from it. People who are overweight or obese are at risk for related health concerns such as heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.
This is how a Weight Loss and Health Coach can help.
People with binge eating disorder usually have other emotional or mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and substance abuse. They may feel stress which can cause problems with sleeping. A person may struggle with low self esteem or ‘fat eyes’ (aka. body image shame).
Health Coaches are trained to look for these identifiers, develop a health and wellness plan and also help with weight loss.
